As you know this site uses SMF as a cms even though it is forum software. I however really like smf and how many add ones are available that allow me to make the site that way I want. Or at least close to the way I want. The only issue I have is with the Article system all the other add ones work great. This article system lacks a lot of features I want, like a small thumb nail for each article on the main page that lists each article. It just does not look all that fancy. Anyway back when I started this site I was using a cms called composr and I really enjoyed using it. The only issue I had with it was that it had not been updated in some time, maybe 2 to 3 years if I am not mistaken. I guess this is more of a concern than an issue. Anyway back in December an update for compsr came out and broke the site. I was then unable to fix it and that is when I decided on smf. However I kept an eye on composr and see that there back in heavy development. So I am thinking about using it again when the newest version of it comes out which will be a while yet however I love the article system it has and it is very powerful. It also has a gallery but as composr can integrate with smf we will be using both smf and composr so nothing will be lost and the only changes will be with the look of the main page and the articles will look a lot better with images and thumbnails which I think will be a great improvement. I think I will stick with the gallery for smf though as I love the way it works and I do not want to try and move those over to composr. I am not sure how long it will be before composr comes out because the latest verion is in Alpha. However as I have been watching the progress on it, I feel they are moving development pretty quickly. I have a test site with it running as well. Just to test it out and I have to say the latest version is impressive and far better than the old version. On a side note, I am also working on maybe adding ads to the site, not sure if this is a good idea or a bad idea but I am just needing a bit extra money to make ends meet. Although I do use the money earning apps that I have reviews for that also help and I do hope they help you as well as every thing on this site is to help you as well as my self I guess. |
